A new month means it’s time for another Flawless World beauty pick of the month! Since it’s summertime I’ve been wearing less makeup lately (I mean, everyone looks better with a tan, and it’s been so hot, I want to enjoy being outside while I can!), and also haven’t been going as crazy when it comes to all of my skincare products—I’ve been trying a “less is more” kind of approach. Now, it’s no secret that I’m a summer girl—I think I’ve made that abundantly clear—and though I do wear protection like sunscreen when I go outside, there is no avoiding the sun drying out my skin. This is why it’s so important for me to have a good moisturizer that will help keep my skin hydrated.

All of this brings me to my next point, and that is Flawless World’s beauty pick of the month for August: the Garnier SkinActive Water Rose 24H Moisture Cream. I switched back to using this product during the hot summer months, and am so glad I did. You know the drill: below I’m going to break down what this product is, why I’m loving it, and my application process.

What is it?

Garnier SkinActive Water Rose 24H Moisture Cream:

[from the Ulta Beauty website]: “Garnier SkinActive Water Rose 24H Moisture Cream is a lightweight moisturizer that contains natural origin rose water and hyaluronic acid, a powerful hydrator suitable for all skin types. The sheer water cream formula is instantly absorbed into skin, replenishing moisture throughout the day while leaving no greasy residue. Skin is soft and smooth, with a clean finish and fresh scent of real rose water.”

Where to buy:

I purchased my moisturizer online from Ulta Beauty. It’s also available at CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Walmart, and Target.

Why I’m loving it:

I have fairly normal skin overall; there are times when it definitely gets dry (I’ll notice because my skin will be so pourous it’ll suck up every skincare product I apply). However, my skin definitely gets dehydrated easily. I drink at least a gallon of water a day, so I know it’s not from lack of water consumption, which makes it all the more important for me to use products that help keep my skin plenty hydrated.

The rose water and hyaluronic acid truly soothe and hydrate the skin, and I’ve noticed that when applying this after a day in the sun my skin is instantly quenched. One of the things I love about this moisturizer is that it’s super lightweight, which also makes it perfect for summer. I learned from my dermatologist that women especially are prone to getting a lot of sun damage on their chest; so after a day in the sun, I make sure to apply this to my chest as well. It definitely soothes the area and helps prevent it from getting dried out.

The fact that this product is safe for my sensitive skin makes me so happy. I also love how good it smells, it’s like putting a garden of roses onto my face. The price point is fairly reasonable too, considering the fact that I have yet to see a face moisturizer under $12.99. If I could fix one thing about this moisturizer it would be the size. I wish it was a little bit bigger because I feel like it’s easy to go through this fairly quickly.

Application:

This is typically the last step in my skincare routine. I apply about a dime-sized amount to my cheeks and forehead, then a smaller amount to my nose. I then blend it into the skin using upward, circular motions, until the moisturizer has fully sunken into the skin. There won’t be a damp, wet-looking residue left behind. With the remainder of the moisturizer on my hands, I then apply it to my neck in upward strokes toward the jawline.
