Beauty Pick of the Month: KKW Crystal Gardenia by KKW Fragrance

Hello, September, I believe it’s time for a brand new Flawless World beauty pick of the month. With this blog being officially one year (and one day) old, I figured this would be the perfect month to celebrate the perfume I received as a present last year on my birthday and the day of the launch of this blog: KKW Crystal Gardenia by KKW Fragrance. Over the past year I’ve gotten new perfumes, but this one has steadily remained my favorite. I’m obsessed. In case you’re wondering if perfume technically falls under the beauty category, don’t worry, that was the first thing I checked before writing this. Perfume falls under the cosmetics category, which, IMO, is in the beauty world realm.

I love this perfume for many reasons (besides the unique bottle), which I’ll get into below. First, let’s break down all the details.

What is it?

KKW crystal gardenia by KKW Fragrance:

[from the KKW Fragrance website]: “A voluptuous lush and feminine fragrance. Crystal Gardenia offers a top note of water lily evoking a lush, wet, petally effect to the opening. Timeless gardenia, tiara flower and velvet tuberose bring a trio of white florals to the heart offering a narcotic opulence of grand spillage, warm woods and skin musk provide a contouring effect to the signature finish.”

  • Top: Pink Grapefruit, Luscious Anjou Pear, Watery Lily
  • Middle: Timeless Gardenia Petals, Tiare Flower, Velvet Tuberose
  • Base: Sensual Sandalwood, Solar Amber, Skin Musk

PRICE POINT: $60, 75 ML

Why i’m Loving it:

Let me start off by saying this: I absolutely love Kim Kardashian West. I really look up to her in so many ways. This is part of the reason I wanted to try out this perfume in the first place. The other reason was that at the time, I’d been using more body sprays instead of perfume. I didn’t actually own any perfumes, and I wanted to get back to using them again. This, mixed with my love for KKW, is what prompted me to check out KKW Fragrance.

The thing that really drew me in, though, was the name of the fragrance and the shape of the bottle. When KKW first launched this perfume, I watched an interview she did on The Ellen Show talking about it. In the interview she said that she was inspired by the healing crystals people had given her after her robbery in Paris. She said that they helped her a lot, and that was what inspired her to create the unique shape of this perfume bottle. That interview piqued my interest in healing crystals, though I didn’t start purchasing and really getting into and learning more about them until around March 2019. When it came time to make a list of what I wanted for my birthday last year I was really into healing crystals at the time and had remembered that original KKW interview talking about this perfume. Of course I wanted to try it out.

I fell in love with the packaging the instant I opened it. I love how it comes in a nice, magnetic case, and the fact that it also comes with three small quartz points and a card on clear quartz was an info card nice added bonus. I thought the presentation, overall, was beautiful.

After I opened it, I sprayed some on myself (of course I did), and I fell in love immediately. It’s hard to describe a smell, but the best thing I can say is that this smells amazing. It’s heavenly, and I always get compliments on it whenever I wear it. My boyfriend will even use it occasionally to spray our bedroom because he loves the smell of it as well. I’ve never had a perfume with gardenia in it before, and it’s now become one of my favorite scents. True to the description, the fragrance is very feminine and sexy. The bottle is also a really good size, you most definitely get what you pay for. I don’t wear perfume everyday, but I do wear this one every time I go out. After a year of use, I’ve barely made a dent in the bottle.

How i use it:

When it comes to perfume, less is definitely more. I typically spray this on the inside of my left wrist, and gently dab it onto the inside of my right one. I never, under any circumstances, rub in the scent. Eight years ago, I was told by someone working at Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC that rubbing perfume breaks down the chemicals and changes the scent. Ever since that day, I don’t rub my perfume in. Occasionally, I’ll additionally spray some on my chest, but I typically stick to just my wrists; like I said, less is more.
