It’s a new month, which means that it’s time for another Flawless World beauty pick of the month! This time of year it’s all about taking care of dehydrated and dull skin after being cooped up all winter with the heat on high. Springtime is just around the corner, and when it’s time to go out and about, it’s important that skin’s looking radiant and flawless.

With skincare comes lip care—an equally important body part to take care of that shouldn’t be neglected. I’m personally prone to getting chapped lips—I honestly have no idea why, it’s something that’s just always happened—and because of this, I really try to stay on top of my lip care so that my lips don’t look shriveled and chapped. It’s important for me to use a product that’ll deliver lasting hydration and nourishment.

Why I’m loving it:

I’m not going to lie, before putting this on recently, it’d been a minute since I last used this product. At the time of purchase, I was really getting into makeup and learning the tips and tricks, but one area that continuously eluded me was how to properly apply lip liner and lipstick. So, I stuck to what I knew best: gloss, gloss, and more gloss. Naturally, at that time, this buy was a no-brainer. However, once I finally learned how to line my lips correctly with lip liner so I didn’t look like a clown (which was actually shortly after I purchased this), I ditched my glosses for creme and matte lipsticks, and nude lip liner (love me a good nude). In turn, I’d try my best to regularly use chapstick on the days I wasn’t wearing makeup to try to prevent my lips from becoming chapped. I feel like taking care of your lips is really important, and I think that having chapped and dehydrated lips can age you, and they also don’t lay as nicely and naturally underneath makeup.

Recently, I was organizing my makeup stand containing my non-staples in my makeup routine, and I desperately needed to put some chapstick on (I could feel my lips cracking). Without thinking, I grabbed this lip plumping gloss, and it happened—I was immediately reminded of why I used to both love this gloss and use it religiously.

For starters, the plumping effect is insane. It really does give your lips a slight pout and makes them look fuller. It’s nothing drastic—just adds a little bit of flair and drama to the natural shape of your lips. The gloss does what it’s meant to as far as lip plumping goes, but what really amazed me was how hydrating and nourishing the formula was from the jump. When I woke up the following morning, for the first time in as long as I can remember, my lips weren’t chapped. I mean, the nourishment and hydration is instant. It’s incredible—better than any chapstick I’ve ever used.

This gloss comes in different shades, but I love how mine—the original, clear one—can be worn alone, or on top of any lipstick, lip liner, or gloss. It’s extremely versatile, and what I really love about it is that I can wear it on the days I have no makeup on and it looks totally normal! Sure, my lips may look a little glossy and brighter at first, but that goes away, and its not jarring in the slightest. Additionally, I’ve found that a little bit goes a long way with this gloss, and it doesn’t bother my sensitive skin.

Application:

Though there are guidelines to generally follow when it comes to both makeup and skincare, the majority of it is subjective to each person, as everyone’s needs and wants will vary. It’s all personal preference, what you like, and what your skin needs!

Directions:

[from the TooFaced website]: “Apply directly from the doe-foot applicator on clean dry lips morning and night and throughout the day as your lip plumping treatment.”

How I use it:

1. Once daily—typically after my morning skincare has been completed and I’m not planning on eating anything for a little bit—I apply the gloss using the doe-foot applicator directly onto my lips.
   1. Side note: you may feel a slight tingling sensation that may last from 5-10 minutes. I’ll usually feel it for 1 minute—2 minutes max—and then it’ll dissipate completely. It doesn’t leave my lips feeling weird for the rest of the day, either.
   2. Side note: although I typically apply only once a day, on the days I feel like I need an extra boost of hydration and nourishment, I’ll re-apply again/more times throughout.

Get the look:

As pictured below, and in all pictures throughout this post, if you want a super glossy lip to go with your makeup look, line your lips with a lighter nude lip liner, lightly shading in corners, and then apply gloss in the center and slightly outward on both the top and bottom lip. This will make your lips look more pouty and full.
