Easy Low-Calorie Margarita Recipe

Life is all about balance, so even if one of your New Year’s resolutions is to lose weight or stay on top of counting calories, you’re still entitled to have fun every once in a while so you don’t deprive yourself too much and go crazy. Cue the low-calorie alcoholic beverages! I’ve broken down how to make the perfect hot and dirty martini (my fave), but now it’s time to break down a drink recipe perfect for tequila lovers: the easy, low-calorie margarita you can make right at home!

Low-calorie margarita:



WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Silver Tequila
  • Triple Sec
  • 2 Limes (1 for fresh lime juice, the other for the drink and garnish)
  • Agave Nectar
  • Ice
  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Rocks Glass or One Similar in Size
  • Salt

FRESH LIME JUICE INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Take one lime and slice in half.
  2. Squeeze juice out of each half into a pint glass.
  3. Cover, and store in fridge to chill.

HOW-TO:

  1. Fill cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Pour in a 4 count of tequila, a 2 count of triple sec, and a 2 count of lime juice.
  3. With the other lime, cut in half and make a slice down the middle of each half, then cut into wedges.
  4. Squeeze 3 wedges of lime into cocktail shaker, then put the wedges into it as well.
  5. Add in a 2 count of agave nectar.
  6. Shake well! Cocktail shaker should be cold to the touch.
  7. Take another wedge of lime and wet the rim of the glass with it.
  8. Dip rim into salt to salt the rim.
  9. Pour out contents of cocktail shaker into glass.
  10. Garnish with a slice of lime and enjoy responsibly!
