How I Organize My Makeup Stand

How I Organize My Makeup Stand

It is currently day 16–day 16? Day 17? Day 15?—of quarantine and social distancing and the days are, at last, beginning to get mixed together. Regardless, everyone is in basically full-blown lockdown mode, and we’re all trying to get creative to keep ourselves entertained, all the while *hoping and praying* that this awful virus passes soon. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about deep cleaning their houses, or finally getting around to clear out their basement and garage, but I wanted to take the whole cleaning thing a step further and make it a little more fun: I’m going to show you how I organize my makeup stand.

Organization, IMO, is way more fun than cleaning cleaning. Keeping things organized makes everyone’s life easier, especially when you’re dealing with multiple products in one area. An organized makeup stand not only makes your life easier, it looks super cute and works as nice added decor, too. Keep on reading to learn how I keep my makeup stand organized and flawless.

Bottom:

Foundation, concealer, cream contour, setting powder, and eyeshadow.

I keep all of this together because it correlates to the order in which I apply my makeup products. I start with foundation, then move on to concealer and cream contour. After that, I then bake the concealer and contour with setting powder, and lastly, while my face is baking and setting, I move on to eyeshadow.

Foundation:

Since I mix up different colors to match my skin tone, I keep all of my foundation and tinted moisturizers together.

Concealer, cream contour, + setting powder:

I have concealers and setting powder from both Kylie Cosmetics and KKW Beauty. My cream contour sticks are also from KKW Beauty and NYX Cosmetics. To make everything more aesthetically pleasing, I’ve color-coordinated all three of these products by brand and purpose.

On this side, I have all of my KKW Beauty products and my NYX Cosmetics cream contour stick.

On the opposite side, I’ve put all of my Kylie Cosmetics products together.

I love how the makeup correlates to the order in which I apply, as well as the fact that it also correlates by brand. (It feels right having the two sisters side-by-side too, lol.) In addition, whenever I use a concealer from Kylie Cosmetics I’ll typically use the setting powder from Kylie Cosmetics and vice-versa. Either way, having them side-by-side helps keep things organized for me so I’m not spinning and reaching in a million different directions.

Eyeshadow:

I removed all of the slots on this side so I’d be able to fit all of my eyeshadow palettes in the stand. I have my Kylie Cosmetics ‘Under the Sea’ palette in front because it’s the one I reach for the most, followed by the Kylie Cosmetics ‘Kylie x Balmain’ palette, and then lastly the Ulta Beauty Rose Gold eyeshadow palette.

Middle:

Blush, bronzer, and highlighter.

These products are in the middle of my makeup stand because they come after after all of my first-step face products listed above. I’ve found it’s easier to keep all of this stuff together since I reach for them at the same part and time of my makeup routine. I also love how all of these products look together on the stand. I’ve tried color-coordinating these products too.

In the picture above on the left, I have my bronzer and go-to highlighter. (I also have my lip liner sharpener there too because it looks cute and is the best place for it fit-wise.) On the right I have (from the bottom up) my L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Glow Nude face palette, my Kylie Cosmetics Kylighter, and my NARS blush. I don’t use the highlighters on the right very often (they just don’t work for my skin tone, and the L’Oréal palette has had its fair share of work, it’s on its way out, I’ll occasionally use the Kylighter as an eyeshadow highlight), but I love the way they match together, and the NARS blush is small and fits perfectly on top.

I also have these products side-by-side because I reach for them every time I do my makeup.

On the opposite side, I have highlighters from Too Faced (yellow box, bottom slot) and e.l.f Cosmetics. I don’t reach for this side as often as the other one.

Top:

All brushes (plus an extra, unused blending sponge), mascara, eyeliner, brightening powder, lipstick, lip glosses, lip liner, and setting spray.

As far as products go (i.e mascara, brightening powder, lipstick/glosses, and lip liner), I’ve kept with the theme trending upward on my makeup stand. These products are the ones I apply last (lipstick or lip gloss is always final) before I set it all in place with setting spray. However, I have the brushes and mascara on top because that’s where they fit and look the best. Throughout my makeup process I’m always reaching for various brushes, which is why I’ve kept the brushes organized according to use.

Brushes:

All of my eye brushes, mascara, and eyeshadow primer are in the same area.

The eye brushes are lined up behind my brightening powder. (The nude compact, front and center.)

Here I have my face brushes: my contour brush, stipple brush, blush brush, and highlighter brush.

My big fluffy brushes (upper right hand-corner) are my powder brushes, which is why I have them next to each other.

Lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner, + setting spray:

As pictured above, I keep all of my lipsticks and the plastic cases they come in (so if I ever travel I can try to avoid scuffing them, not sure why I care, but that’s where we’re at, lol). All of my lipsticks are the crème lipsticks from KKW Beauty, so naturally, I’ve put all of them together. I also keep both my glosses and lip liners together.

My lip liners.

The pink bottle is my setting spray from Kylie Cosmetics, and the black one on the right is my setting spray from Morphe. In between those, I have my glosses.
