Although I’m still slightly recovering from the initial shock that it’s officially December and 2019 is rapidly coming to an end, I can’t ignore the fact that every passing day is a day closer to the holidays. There’s no denying it: the holiday season is upon us, in full swing. Although this time of year is magical, sometimes the idea of getting just the right gifts for everyone can be very stressful—but don’t worry, I’m here to help π
Below I’m going to go over what I believe is the most flawless gift guide for a home. These gifts are genderless, classic, timeless, and are perfect for everyone.
Artwork
Artwork is an awesome gift for anyone who’s looking to fill up bare walls in their home. Last Christmas I gifted my boyfriend artwork for the living room, kitchen, and our bedroom; and it’s made our home feel so much more cozy.
Pictured above, the artwork I gifted my boyfriend for the living room last Christmas. The 4 single canvases made the art flow nicely and allowed us to center the painting. The blue flowers are the only pop of color.
Tips:
- Black and white artwork with one pop of color can really brighten up a room without it being too overbearing
- When picking out a single pop of color, try matching it to the walls of the room
- Try to match the artwork to the specific room so it vibes nicely with everything else and doesn’t disrupt the Fung Shui
- Minimalist designs and flowers are nice for all genders
- Canvas art is affordable, easy to hang, and looks nice
- Triptychs or 4 small squares take up a decent amount of room and balance nicely when centered
- Amazon and Kohl’s have really affordable artwork
We later added this into the living room as well This piece flows nicely with the walls & other art The artwork for our kitchen. We love wine, and putting this art there makes perfect sense!
candles
Full disclosure: I am obsessed with candles. I have at least one in almost every room in my house. Not only do they make for killer added décor, they smell amazing and give off major calming vibes! Both men and women alike can appreciate a nice candle.
Tips:
- Yankee Candle has a lot of different designs and types of candles, switch it up by gifting something different
- You can never go wrong with a vanilla, gardenia, or Christmas cookie scent
Towels
Is there really anyone that can’t use more towels? Whether it’s a bath towel, hand towel, dish towel, face cloth, etc (the list goes on and on!), you can never disappoint by gifting someone a brand new, nice, fresh towel. Just make sure it dries you off nicely π
Tips:
- If possible, try to match towels to ones they already own. Example: if someone has only black towels, try gifting them with more black towels
- Bed, Bath, and Beyond has some amazing towels
- If you’re unsure of what towel to purchase, buy a towel gift set instead!
Silverware
Silverware is great because much like towels, there isn’t anyone who can’t use a little extra!
Tips:
- Don’t be afraid to get something different—different types and colors of silverware can be used on different occasions!
- Make sure it’s dishwasher safe!
- Keep in mind the style of the person you’re gifting it to—do they like sleekness or are they more traditional? From there, it’ll be easier to decide on what to gift them
Glasses
Much like silverware, glassware can be a fun and helpful gift! I personally love getting new alcohol glasses for Christmas because they’re always so unique, festive, and fun; plus whenever I drink out of it I think of the person who gifted it to me!
Tips:
- Much like the silverware, consider the style of the person you’re gifting the glasses to. If they’re more into a sleek, minimal vibe, they’ll probably want a fairly plain, modern glass. If they’re more into traditional vibes and enjoy antiques, they’ll probably enjoy a glass with a design or something alike on it
- If you decide on alcohol glasses, stemless martini glasses are modern and easy to fit in a kitchen cupboard (I know from experience π )
- Champagne glasses can be festive, stylish, and gorgeous. My little brother used to drink OJ and cranberry juice out of a champagne glass on Christmas Eve because he thought the glass was so cool—champagne glasses are perfect for everyone of all ages! (But you must be 21+ to consume alcohol)
Alcohol
As Coco Chanel once said: “I drink champagne on two occasions. When I’m in love, and when I am not.” For the sake of being transparent here, I must say I 100% agree with that statement.
Tips:
- Make sure you know what someone is into before you buy them alcohol. Some people may prefer wine or champagne while others may prefer Scotch or bourbon. It all depends on the individual
- If you’re in the wine/champagne/Prosecco category, champagne or Prosecco is usually a safer option because every brand has their own distinctive taste, while wine varies not only from bottle to bottle, but from each kind. Wine unfortunately has more room for error because of all the unique tasting notes in it
- LaMarca Prosecco or Korbel champagne are a great option if you’re on a tight budget and don’t want to overspend
- Don’t be afraid to ask your local liquor store clerk about different types of alcohol if you’re unsure of what to get, they’ll be able to guide you in the right direction!
