When I was in my teens, I’d often commit the cardinal sin of skin care: sleeping with makeup on. I didn’t wear makeup all that often, so I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. However, my mom would always say: “Your skin changes in your 20’s. You’re going to want to pay more attention to it and take your makeup off at night.” I believed her, but didn’t think much of it at the time. Now, at 26 years old, I can confirm that your skin does, indeed, change when you’re in your 20’s.
By now, it’s safe to assume that you’ve probably heard about how your skin’s elasticity begins to break down (especially when you enter your mid-20’s, which *sigh*), about how collagen production decreases … All of the fun stuff that comes with adulting. And while there’s no shame in aging, I personally am trying to do it as gracefully as possible, and that includes staving of Botox for as long as possible, too.
But alas: I am a woman in her mid-20’s, and I need a little help with that.
Which is where this product comes in.
The ArtNaturals Retinol Serum is the first true anti-aging product that I added to my collection, and it’s been a staple ever since. It’s a magical youth potion at an affordable price, and it delivers. Keep on reading for the full product review, and find out why I love it.

Application:
ArtNaturals recommends applying the Retinol Serum to clean skin once or twice daily using a cotton swab after cleansing and toning. It can be applied to the face, neck, and décolletage. Allow time for serum to penetrate skin and absorb completely.
Price point & where to buy:
This product retails for $13.99 USD and is 1 fl oz (30 ml) on the ArtNaturals website. The serum is also available from other sellers, such as Amazon, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, and more. Prices may vary by seller.
My thoughts:
Why I love it:
I swear since entering my mid-20’s my skin just feels looser. Seriously—I swear I can move it in ways I was never able to before. (Again: not particularly surprising, considering collagen breakdown begins in your 20’s.) My main skin concerns are anti-aging and moisture, since my skin is normal-dry and prone to dryness. I also have very sensitive skin, so using products that contain harsher ingredients such as Vitamin C or Retinol is always a bit worrisome for me; I never know how my skin’s going to react, and I’ll often have to do patch tests on the inside of my wrist or behind my ear to see if a new product irritates my skin.
I am very happy to report that this serum does not irritate my sensitive skin! Not only that, but it also deeply moisturizes and brightens it the way a really nice moisturizer would. I’ve noticed a major difference in the brightness of my skin, which is huge considering my winter skin is currently in battle with the New England winter weather. My skin is nourished, happy, and glowing. The formula is also super lightweight and goes on like a dream.
But that’s not all. I’ve also noticed a difference in the tightness of skin. My skin feels firmer, and looks it as well. When I smile, I really smile with my eyes, so the dreaded crow’s feet are something I’ve always been conscious of. This serum has helped improve those fine lines around my eyes better than any other moisturizer or eye cream before. I’ve also noticed that other fine lines (think: forehead) seemingly vanish with the use of this serum as well. I don’t know what perfect youth potion ArtNaturals bottled up flawlessly and how, but it works. Plus, it’s super affordable—you don’t have to sacrifice quality for a lower price point.
How I use it:
Despite the fact that the description states that this serum is a nighttime rejuvenator, it can be used up to two times daily. (I found this on the back of the bottle and even double checked on the website just to make sure.) Retinol is traditionally used at night, but it’s all personal preference. I also opt for using my fingers instead of a cotton swab because I feel like it’s gentler on my skin, I can place the product exactly where I want it, and I just prefer it overall.
Every morning, after washing and toning my face, I dispense 1-1 ½ drops into the palm of my left hand using the dropper. Then, gently using my ring finger, I pick up some serum and place it under and around my eyes first and foremost. I then follow with the rest of my face and neck; I always apply any skincare products in upward, circular motions. Once the serum has completely absorbed into my skin, I then apply my moisturizer, and I’m good to go!
