Is People’s Beauty Too Good To Be True? Let’s Investigate

Blame it on my dry, sensitive skin, but I believe less is more when it comes to skincare products. Because after trying everything under the sun, I realized that most products on the market just weren’t cutting it. So, it’s unsurprising that I’m always skeptical about trying new products. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right? But when I had the chance to test out People’s Beauty—a Korean skincare brand—I jumped at the opportunity.

Designed by a team of experts in New York City and manufactured in South Korea, People’s Beauty cuts through the bullsh*t. Rather than watering down their products, the brand isolates active ingredients to perfect them. Plus, they’re certified by PETA and formulate their products to EU cosmetics standards, so they’re free from over 1,300 toxins.

If you think this sounds too good to be true, trust me when I tell you I thought the same thing. So, I did some investigating. And after trying The Essentials Kit from People’s Beauty, I have some thoughts. Keep scrolling to find out if People’s Beauty is too good to be true, and get my full review on the brand’s essential products.

People’s Beauty: The Essentials Kit Review

Double-Duty Amino Gel Face Cleanser + Makeup Remover

people's beauty Double-Duty Amino Gel Face Cleanser + Makeup Remover

QUICK OVERVIEW:

  • Gel-to-foam formula forms microbubbles during application to deeply cleanse and gently exfoliate skin
  • Non-drying formula packed with soothing plant-based ingredients
  • Tightens pores
  • Suitable for all skin types

KEY INGREDIENTS:

  • Amino Acid Surfactants
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Niacinamide
  • Macadamia & Safflower Seed Oils

I’m always skeptical about using gel cleansers and usually opt for lightweight cleansers with milky formulas that won’t strip my skin instead. But this product pleasantly surprised me. True to its word, it didn’t leave my skin feeling dry and irritated; rather, it left it glowing, hydrated, and plump. What’s more, it removed my makeup in one go. It melted away effortlessly, and I didn’t have to scrub and tug my skin like a maniac to get it off.

But what I really love about product is that it’s essentially a double cleanser. Instead of wetting the skin before applying, it goes onto dry skin first. Then, you add water, massage it in more, and rinse thoroughly. After testing this product, I’ve realized that this process works best for cutting through whatever makeup or grime is hiding on the surface of my skin. Plus, it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth—not sticky and dry.

Frontliner Mask + Scrub

people's beauty frontliner mask and scrub

QUICK OVERVIEW:

  • 2-in-1 mask and scrub
  • Improves skin’s radiance and texture
  • Non-drying formula that removes impurities and excess oils while hydrating and replenishing skin

KEY INGREDIENTS:

  • Kaolin clay
  • Plant-based cellulose
  • Triple plant moisture complex
  • Peppermint extract

This 2-in-1 mask and scrub is step number two in the People’s Beauty routine and the product I was most scared to try. I rarely use masks and scrubs—especially ones that exfoliate—because they typically dry out my skin even more. So imagine my surprise when this product didn’t do that. Not only did it keep my skin moisturized, but the formula was also non-irritating. While I didn’t notice a major difference in my complexion, my skin did look slightly brighter after using it. And that isn’t something I’ll complain about.

That said, while People’s Beauty recommends using this one-to-two times per week, I’ve been using it every other week or every two weeks. My skin radiates with a “less is more” protocol, so this works best for me.

Triple Hyaluronic Acid Essence Toner

people's beauty triple hyaluronic acid essence toner

QUICK OVERVIEW:

  • Calming daily toner
  • Hydrates and balances skin’s pH
  • Reduces signs of aging, boosts cell renewal, and improves texture and tone
  • Protects from environmental damage

KEY INGREDIENTS:

  • Tri-Molecular Hyaluronic Acid
  • Pine Mushroom
  • Cicer Seed Extract
  • Chrysanthemum Leaf

Toner used to be a crucial step in my skincare routine, but I’ve gotten away from using it to save time in my beauty regimen. Nevertheless, this was one of the products I was most excited to try from The Essentials Kit—and it lived up to the hype. Unlike toners I’ve used in the past, this one seriously preps the skin to absorb all products. On top of locking in moisture, it also combats fine lines and wrinkles by plumping the skin. Plus, I love that it can be applied with your hands rather than a cotton pad or ball; I think this application method is the most effective.

Ultimate Rich Face Cream

people's beauty ultimate rich face cream

QUICK OVERVIEW:

  • Attracts and locks in long-lasting hydration
  • Immediately plumps and brightens skin to reduce visible signs of aging
  • Boosts skin’s moisture barrier and promotes collagen production
  • Non-sticky formula

KEY INGREDIENTS:

  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid
  • Sodium Hyaluronate
  • Shea Butter

Aging is a gift that should never be taken for granted, but I’m not afraid to admit that I want to stave it off as long as possible. Since early signs of aging often appear more quickly on dry skin, I need a heavy-duty moisturizer that’ll keep my skin hydrated to reduce the appearance of fine lines. La Roche-Posay’s Lipikar AP+M Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream is my holy grail, and I was curious to see how People’s Beauty’s Ultimate Rich Face Cream would compare.

I first applied this before bed and followed it up with the Superfood Facial Dew, and was happy to see that my skin looked dewy and plump when I woke up the next morning. Likewise, it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin or cause any redness, which is another huge plus. Also, true to its word, this moisturizer does have a rich formula that’s more nourishing than gel or water-based moisturizers. However, the formula is still lighter than my go-to moisturizer. So while this product won’t be replacing that completely, it’s nice to know that I can use it in tandem with other items from The Essentials Kit and my skin will survive and thrive.

Superfood Facial Dew

QUICK OVERVIEW:

  • Lightweight, fast-absorbing, and non-greasy
  • Hydrates, smooths, and protects skin
  • Antioxidant-packed concentrate

KEY INGREDIENTS:

  • Argan Kernel Oil
  • Carrot Seed Oil
  • Sunflower Seed Oil
  • Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil
  • Meadowfoam Seed Oil
  • Olive Fruit Oil
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Grape Seed Oil
  • Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

People’s Beauty’s Superfood Facial Dew was the product I was most excited to try, and it did not disappoint. This is by far my favorite product of the collection. Unlike other facial oils, it goes on after toner and after moisturizer to create a lit-from-within glow that even Hailey Bieber would envy. Seriously—it’s that good. Not only does it feel luxurious AF, but it keeps skin hydrated and plump long after it’s applied; it effortlessly locks in moisture. Plus, it’s essentially an antioxidant-packed concentrate that can fight environmental aggressors like UV rays and pollution.

What’s more, I love how this facial dew boosts the effectiveness and benefits of my other skincare products; it visibly reduces signs of aging instantly. If there’s one item you need from The Essentials Kit, this is it. I can’t wait to use this until the very last drop.

So… Is People’s Beauty Worth It?

In short: 100%. While every item in The Essentials Kit is a standout star all on its own, the products together are unstoppable. The best part is that each product is formulated to be suitable for all skin types and needs, regardless of gender (my husband is also a huge fan of the collection). Overall, People’s Beauty did not disappoint; it lived up to the hype and its promise of being an affordable luxury skincare brand.
