The Date Ideas You Need to Do Before Summer Ends

If it were up to me, summer would be eternal. (My goal is to eventually live in a climate where it’s basically summertime all year round.) But even in warmer climates, there is still a change in season, and despite where you live, each new season brings about new changes from clothing, makeup, hairstyles, and activities. These reasons alone make the activities you can do at different times of the year that much more fun and exciting. It also gives you and your S.O the opportunity to create magical memories that you’ll always keep with you and think about whenever a certain time of year rolls around.

Below I’ve broken down the date ideas you and your S.O can do before summer ends, the ones you’ll both love! Do these and make everlasting memories that you’ll both be able to recall whenever you’re reminded of a specific such as a certain taste, smell, climate, and feeling.

The date ideas you need to do before summer ends:

  • Outdoor/candlelit dinner. Make the most out of this time of year by having dinner together outside one night. You can set it up on a deck, table, and chairs, or even plan a picnic in the backyard. Either way, you’ll both enjoy the weather, good food and drink, and each other’s company. If you really want to set the mood for the night ahead, go out around dusk and set up some candles too. Nothing screams romance more than a candlelit dinner.
  • Ice cream date. Honestly, what is summer if not a time for ice cream? Treat yourselves one night with an ice cream date. Go out to an ice cream parlor, or buy the ice cream and toppings at the market and make sundaes at home!
  • Host/attend a cookout. Good weather means it’s time to get outside. Make an effort to either attend or host at least one cookout before summer’s over. (Following COVID restrictions, of course 😉 ) Nothing’s better than good food straight from the grill.
  • Beach date. Not everyone’s a fan of the beach, and that’s fine, but try to squeeze in at least one beach date before summer ends. The great thing about the beach is that you can go at anytime—early morning to catch some salt air and sun, late afternoon when the temperature’s beginning to drop, or even nighttime when there’s almost always a nice breeze coming off of the ocean and the beach isn’t as packed. Going to the beach as a couple is fun, and gives you a nice change of scenery from day-to-day life. Don’t forget to pack water, sunscreen, and food–you don’t want to get hangry. 😉
  • Swim together. It doesn’t matter if you prefer swimming in the ocean, a pool or lake, go swimming together at least once before summer ends! I personally prefer swimming in the ocean over everything, and nothing’s better than acting like a little kid again with my boyfriend in the water, hugging, and kissing in the water. (Yes, we’re that couple. No shame.) Let loose together and act like children again, and share a kiss in the water before you get out for good measure.
  • Grab dinner on or by the water. I’m fortunate enough to live in The Ocean State, so seafood, beaches, and restaurants by/on the ocean are in abundance for me. I can confidently say firsthand that having dinner on or by the water is magical. If you’re able to, try to find a restaurant on the water near you that can give you that special dining experience.
  • Watch the sunset together. For a date idea that’s older than me, it really is a good one. Nature’s a beautiful thing, and watching the sunset together is equal parts relaxing, mesmerizing, and romantic. If you really want to go the extra mile, grab some champagne and appetizers to have while you watch the sun go down.
  • Go stargazing together. There’s something so calming about looking up at the stars and getting just the faintest hint at how big the universe truly is. Look up at the stars together after watching the sun set, or go on a separate occasion. If you really want to know what you’re looking at, download a stargazing app on your phone. I personally love stargazing with my boyfriend and having deep conversations about the universe and what it could possibly all mean.
