The Spicy Sex Position Your Personality Type Will Love

The Spicy Sex Position Your Personality Type Will Love

There’s something comforting about routines, but sometimes you just want to switch things up. The same goes for your sex life, especially when you’re in a relationship. Banality in the bedroom can lead to a whole myriad of problems that neither you or your partner need in your lives. This is where finding a new sex position to try can be helpful and lead to some sexual self-discovery.

The problem with this? There’s an endless amount of positions out there, and everyone is different; what works well for someone might be less enjoyable for another. Our bodies and minds respond differently to sexual stimuli, and the best way to find what will work best for you is to find a position that’s geared toward your personality type—AKA your Enneagram.

The Enneagram is a system of nine personality types that help us better understand how different people view the world and operate in it.

The Enneagram Types:

Based off of these brief descriptions, you can get an idea of which type you are:

  1. The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, purposeful, self-controlled, and perfectionistic
  2. The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, generous, people-pleasing, and possessive
  3. The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptive, excelling, driven, and image-conscious
  4. The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, dramatic, self-absorbed, and temperamental
  5. The Intense, Cerebral Type: Perceptive, innovative, secretive, and isolated
  6. The Committed, Security-Oriented Type: Engaging, responsible, anxious, and suspicious
  7. The Busy, Fun-Loving Type: Spontaneous, versatile, distractable, scattered
  8. The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-confident, decisive, willful, confrontational
  9. The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, reassuring, agreeable, complacent

If you want to do some more in-depth exploration, you can take a free personality test and come back here. (This isn’t necessary, though.) With that being said, you can now find a sex position that’s perfect you. These positions work for two people and all genders and sexual orientations. The Sex Position You Should Try, Based on Your Enneagram:

1. x marks the spot

sex position for your Enneagram

Why it’s good for them: Type Ones are known for their precision and perfection, but that doesn’t mean they don’t like a little bit of chaos and excitement from time to time. X Marks the Spot lets a Type One cede control a little bit and get caught up in the excitement of doing it on a tabletop.

How to do it: Find a flat surface (preferably a bed or a table) and have the receiving partner lay flat on their back with their legs in the air crossed at ankles or knees. Then, the receiving partner will stay standing and use their partners’ legs to pull themselves in deep.

2. giraffe style oral sex

the sex position to try, based on your Enneagram

Why it’s good for them: Type Twos are extremely generous and caring, so they probably put their partner’s needs above their own in the bedroom and find pleasure in doing so. To spice things up, try a new oral sex position: giraffe style. Whether you make this part of foreplay or the main event, this is bound to heat things up.

How to do it: Lay on your back with your head tilted off the bed so it’s upside down. Then have your partner enter your mouth.

3. standing wheelbarrow

the sex position you should try according to your Enneagram

Why it’s good for them: Type Threes are incredibly success-driven and ambitious, and this challenging position will make them feel like they’ve struck gold. Fair warning, though: This position requires a lot of strength from both partners. (Which will probably be all the more reason you’ll love this, Type Three.)

How to do it: Have the receiving partner get on all fours while the penetrating stands behind them. Then, the penetrating will pick up their legs, holding them by the hips (mimicking a wheelbarrow position), and enter from behind.

4. legs around the head oral sex

the sex position you should try

Why it’s good for them: Although Type Fours are temperamental and withdrawn, they can truly shine in the bedroom. This position is perfect for them because it lets them show off their oral skills.

How to do it: Have your partner lie flat on their back and place your head between their crotch. From there, have them lift their legs around your head to create a tighter sensation and increase pleasure. Once you’re done, you can move in on top if you want to take it to the next level.

5. face-to-Face

Why it’s good for them: Type Fives sometimes have difficulty opening up, but this position will help them break out of their shell. It’s super intimate since you’re both looking in each other’s eyes, and you can go as slow or as fast as you want.

How to do it: Find a couch or chair and have the penetrating partner sit down. The receiving partner will then climb on top of them and get to work. Don’t be afraid to make out or touch on all those available erogenous zones, either.

6. hands tied above your head

Why it’s good for them: If you’re a Type Six, you probably have a hard time trusting others. Unsurprisingly, this can make opening up in the bedroom a bit challenging at times. This weekend, practice letting go a bit by having your partner tie your hands above your head; come up with a safe word ahead of time in case things get out of hand and you feel uncomfortable at any point.

How to do it: Regardless of whether you’re giving or receiving the penetration, lie flat on your back and have your partner tie your hands above your head. They’ll then move on top of you and proceed accordingly.

7. standing fire hydrant

Why it’s good for them: No one does or loves adventure quite like a Type Seven. It only makes sense that they’d love a position that takes it outside the bedroom.

How to do it: Find a flat surface—like a kitchen countertop—the receiving partner can bend over and rest their chest on. They’ll then lift one leg in the air at around a 90° angle, or as far as their flexibility allows and they’re comfortable with. The giving partner will then hold their leg and get to work while staying standing.

8. standing oral

Why it’s good for them: Type Eights love to be in control, and this position will make them come alive in the bedroom. They’ll get a chance to take charge and tell their partner what they like and don’t like. Plus, standing over their partner will be empowering for them.

How to do it: This one’s pretty straightforward, though it’s definitely slightly easier if the receiving partner has a penis. Nevertheless, though, it can work for those with a vagina—all you need to do is stand with your legs slightly apart and push your pelvis out.

9. the plow

Why it’s good for them: Type Nines are known to be comfortable in complacency, so a modified missionary move will definitely appeal to them. If you have a vulva, this is a great angle to receive penetration, stroke the G-spot, and increase your chances of having an internal orgasm. Either way, though, this position will definitely put an emphasis on intimacy and satisfy you deeply.

How to do it: Set up like you would for normal missionary (with penetrating partner on top and receiving on bottom) with the receiving partner’s ankles around their partner’s shoulders and bent back towards their chest. The penetrating partner can then stabilize themselves by placing their hands on either side of their partner and move in.
